Islamic Emirate rejected US demands for military bases, says Dilavar

KABUL (SW) – Shahabuddin Delavar, acting head of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, said that during the Doha peace talks, the United States had requested the establishment of military bases in Afghanistan, which was rejected by the Islamic Emirate.

The head of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said today at a meeting marking the two-year anniversary of the Doha agreement in Kabul that the United States had called for the establishment of several bases in Afghanistan and stressed that Afghanistan would suffer the fate of Syria if they were not provided.

According to Delavar, the US delegation called for the establishment of bases under the pretext of the partition of Afghanistan, and said that if the United States and other countries leave Afghanistan, the country is likely to fall apart and face many problems.

The head of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum stressed that the delegation of the Islamic Emirate adhered to its position during the talks and rejected the US request.

Delavar, meanwhile, referred to the international community’s call for an inclusive government in Afghanistan, saying that the Islamic Emirate had established an inclusive government and that officials from the previous government were now continuing their duties.

He added that the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum currently employs about 2,000 former government employees, including women.

Delavar stated that the international community wants to include its own people in government.

According to him, the international community submitted a list of eight and then 15 people to the Islamic Emirate to be included in the government; But the Islamic Emirate will never give in to their demands.
