Blast in a mini-bus kills 7 people in Herat

HERAT CITY (SW) – At least seven people got killed and 10 more injured following a blast in a mini-bus carrying passengers in Herat province, confirmed officials on Saturday.

Mohammad Aref Jalali, chief physician at the Herat District Hospital, said that the bodies of seven people, including four women and three men, and 10 wounded, including five women and five men, had been taken to the central hospital in Herat’s Haji Abbas district last evening.

He added that the condition of the two injured in the incident was serious.

Meanwhile, Morteza Aziziar, one of the eyewitnesses, told Salam Watandar that he was the first person to come to the scene and saw about six to seven dead and several wounded. He added that he saw a woman in the incident who lost both her legs and was in a bad condition.

Local sources in Herat told Salam Watandar that the blast took place in the Shiite neighborhood of Herat.

On the other hand, Shah Mahmoud Rasouli, spokesman for the Herat Police Command, said that the incident was caused by the explosion of a magnetic bomb attached to a mini-bus in the “Haji Abbas”.

According to him, this incident is under investigation by the forces of the Islamic Emirate.

According to reports, this is the first explosion after the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan came to power in Herat province.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the blast.
