KABUL (SW) – The Taliban have welcomed the joint declaration on Afghanistan by the EU and Pakistan.
The EU envoys and Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi discussed Afghanistan on Thursday. They issued a joint statement calling on the Islamic Emirate to start talks with Afghan politicians to form an inclusive government to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe and other issues.
Bilal Karimi, a deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, said in response to the announcement that the Islamic Emirate government was inclusive and that its cabinet was still being formed. Regarding talks with politicians for peace, Karimi said the Islamic Emirate is not opposed to talks.
He stressed that the talks between the representatives of the European Union and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, who said that the Islamic Emirate should start talks with Afghan politicians and form an inclusive government, were interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan. Bilal Karimi added that it is up to the citizens of Afghanistan to form a government.
Meanwhile, a number of political analysts are emphasizing upon the formation of an inclusive government, but say that this government should not include former corrupt officials.
Political analyst Mirbat Khan Mangal said that if the world tries to give a share of power to former politicians who were committed to their own interests by proposing an inclusive government, the Afghan people will not accept it.
Since the establishment of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the international community has been emphasizing ipon the establishment of an inclusive government in the country.
