Exports hit record levels of $ 1 billion

KABUL (SW) – Officials of the Islamic Emirate claimed on Tuesday that Afghanistan’s exports has surpassed the historic level of $ one billion for the first time in history.

Enamullah Samangani, a deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, wrote on Twitter, quoting Nouruddine Azizi, acting head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, that Afghanistan’s exports had crossed the $ 1 billion mark for the first time in history.

The acting Minister of Industry and Trade said that until two days ago, the value of exports had reached one billion and 50 million dollars. “Exports were reduced only in the days of the transformation (of the government), but now our exports are normal,” Azizi was quoted as saying by Samangani.

Meanwhile, officials from the Ministry of Industry and Trade told Salam Watandar yesterday that Afghanistan’s exports had increased this year and imports had decreased.

Maulana Zuhair, a spokesman for the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said exports had increased this year compared to last year, with about $ 1 billion worth of domestic products being exported to other countries.

He added that imports have fallen this year to just over $ 3 billion. He attributed the increase in exports to efforts to trade, improve security and facilitated ports operations, and cited problems in the banking system as the most important reasons for the decline in imports.
