DABS extends contract for electricity imported from Tajikistan

KABUL (SW) – The power utility, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat has announced that it has extended the contract for electricity imported from Tajikistan until the end of 2022.

The company issued a statement saying that Hafez Mohammad Amin, CEO of DABS, during an official visit to Tajikistan, had signed a contract with Tajik Electricity for another year to import electricity.

According to this newsletter, the agreement was signed as a result of two days of talks between the two sides, as well as an agreement that was postponed from July this year to December due to political developments in Afghanistan.

The DABS stressed that during the visit, regional and development projects such as Casa 1000 and the construction of a 500 kV line in the energy sector were discussed between the two sides. The company has expressed hope that these talks will have a positive outcome in the near future.

According to the Breshna newsletter, the Afghan delegation promised cooperation with Tajikistan and assured that the forces of the Islamic Emirate would provide security for the resumption of suspended projects.

It should be noted that with the fall of the previous government, the relations between Afghanistan and Tajikistan have become strained and this is the first visit of the delegation of the Islamic Emirate to Tajikistan.
