Taliban set up a “ranks clearing commission”

KABUL (SW) – The Taliban’s  Islamic Emirate on Wednesday announced to have set up a “ranks clearing commission”.

The commission is tasked with ousting exploiters with a bad record from the Taliban ranks. Shir Mohammad Sharif, deputy head of the Taliban’s commission, told a news conference in Kabul today that the commission was working to rid the Taliban of ‘profiteers and incompetents’.

The commission is set to begin work in all provinces soon, he said.

Saeed Khosti, a spokesman for the Taliban’s interior ministry, told the meeting that the heads of the Taliban’s intelligence units in the provinces would lead the commissions. Khosti says that such people as “Kharijites” will be dealt with according to Sharia in Islam.

The Taliban announced the formation of this commission after the group’s cabinet said two days ago that it would not allow rowdy members of the group to operate.
