Surge in terrorist attacks frighten Jalalabad residents

JALALABAD (SW) – Growing incidents of terrorism in Jalalabad city has caused concerns among residents of this capital of the eastern Nangarhar province.

In the past few days, successive explosions in different parts of the city and the killing of a number of people by unknown gunmen have raised the concerns of the residents of this province. In the most recent case, a car bomb exploded near the Pashtunistan road in the first district of Jalalabad this morning as a Taliban vehicle was patrolling the area.

Sources say one Taliban member was killed and seven civilians, including an employee of Jalalabad municipality, were wounded in the incident, according to sources.

Residents of Jalalabad are urging officials to pay serious attention to improving the security situation in Nangarhar.

According to them, increasing insecurity not only affects people psychologically, but it also affects business. According to them, people have been facing many problems recently due to the lack of jobs, and efforts should be made to reassure the people about peace and livelihood.

Salam Watandar wanted to have the views of local officials in Nangarhar in relation to the current situation in Jalalabad, but repeated calls were not answered.

Meanwhile, Bilal Karimi, a member of the cultural commission by the Taliban’s Islamic Emirate, confirmed these incidents and said serious efforts were being made to improve the situation.

As security incidents in Nangarhar escalate, Taliban forces have stepped up patrols and increased checkpoints in Jalalabad to ensure security. Nangarhar residents, however, say more needs to be done to ensure security.
