340 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in 18 provinces

KABUL (SW) – Out of 2514 tests conducted to detect coronavirus in suspected patients during the past 24 hours, at least 340 confirmed to be infected with the COVID-19, said the health ministry on Monday.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, 12 more patients lost their lives to the pandemic. The new cases have been registered in 18 provinces. In the last 24 hours, 150 patients recovered after first contracting the virus, it added.



According to the Ministry of Public Health, 422,649 people have undergone coronavirus tests across the country since the beginning of pandemic. Of these, 62,403 people have been infected with the virus and 2,710 have lost their lives due to the infection. Similarly, 54,382 people have recovered after first getting infected, the ministry said.

Earlier this month, the Ministry of Public Health warned of dire consequences for public in case of continued defiance towards safety and hygiene during the ongoing third wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

Alizay said last week many citizens did not take the ministry’s recommendations seriously. He said it was feared that their recklessness during Eid visits to friends and relatives would worsen the situation.
