Taliban hinder female education in Takhar

KABUL (SW) – The Taliban insurgents have created hurdles for girls seeking education in Takhar provinces, officials claimed.

Officials at the education department in Takhar said the Taliban have prevented girls from going to school in the province. According to officials, a group of Taliban did not allow the girl to go to school in the villages of Qalbars and Chaila in Takhar province.

According to education officials in Takhar, the Taliban only gave conditional permission to the girl student to go to school in the village of Qalbars in Taloqan city, but the issue in the village of Chaila in Baharak district has not been solved yet.

According to reports, the Taliban do not allow female students to be educated in areas under their control from class six and above.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the matter.

This comes as schools have been reopened after months of closure due to coronavirus restrictions.
