22 captives freed from Taliban prison in Logar

PUL-I-ALAM (SW) – At least 22 captives have been freed from a Taliban prison in Logar province, defense ministry said on Tuesday.

According to Mohammad Yasin Sadaad, commander of the 4th Brigade of the 203 – Thunder Corps in Logar province,  Afghan commandos had broken a Taliban prison in the Charkh district of the province and released these prisoners. Among those freed included civilians and soldiers.

He told Salam Watandar that the operation took place at a key Taliban base in the Abjosh area of ​​Charkh district. According to Sadaad, Afghan commandos released 15 civilians and 7 soldiers from the Taliban prison as a result of the operation. He added that two Taliban militants were also killed and seven others were captured alive in the operation.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
