Saleh decides to test knowledge, skills of CID officers

KABUL (SW) – First vice president Amrullah Saleh has announced to test the knowledge and skills of the criminal investigation department officers in the capital Kabul.

In a social media post, Saleh announced heads of CID at all police stations across the city would have to undergo a test in this connection. He said one of the constant complaints among government departments in the past was that the Attorney General’s Office allegedly did not deal with criminals in accordance with the law. Saleh said the government’s in-depth assessments showed that the capacity of the police and even NDS personnel to understand the process of detection, investigation and trial was not sufficient.

According to the first vice president, the initial report is not based on criteria that enabled the prosecutor’s office to rigorously follow the cases.

VP Saleh added the new drive would be replicated in all provinces in line with the National Security Pact. He clarified the results of these tests would not be legally binding until and unless approved by the President.

He expressed hope this would streamline help coordinate tasks between the security and justice institutions.

Saleh also reiterated the government’s resolve against pillion riding on motorcycles as a major security threat particularly in connection with the targeted assassinations.
