Noor warns Taliban against ‘false self-confidence’

KABUL (SW) – Atta Mohammad Noor, chief executive of the Jamiat-e-Islami Afghanistan, has warned of taking up arms against the Taliban if the insurgents continued with the bloodshed in the country.

He was addressing a ceremony commemorating death anniversary of Sayed Mostafa Kazemi, a former member of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house). “It is not possible that you (Taliban) keep killing and we keep our heads down fearing peace should not be compromised”, he said.

Noor warned of a resistance movement against the Taliban in case of failed peace parley. He charged the Taliban are having a false self-confidence and think they have defeated everyone and are going to enter Afghanistan victoriously.

The Jamiat leader said that the peace talks have not yielded good results so far, but added that the talks will be successful when all plans and programs are unified. He also underlined the need for reforms in the government while expressing support for the government.
