KUNDUZ (SW) – At least five security forces got killed in Kunduz following a suicide car bombing in the Imam Saheb district of the province.
Chairman provincial council Mohammad Yusuf Ayubi said the Taliban carried out the attack in the morning, and the clashes between the insurgents and the security forces continued. The governor of Imam Saheb district Mahbubullah Saeedi confirmed the clashes after this attack on the Afghan Border Police.
A well-placed security source that wished not to be named in the report confirmed at least 5 security forces got killed and 12 others got wounded in this incident. The source said the death toll might surge as many victims got buried under the wreckage following the attack.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the 217 – Pamir Corps Hadi Jamal said in this regard that the attacker was identified before it could reach its target. He added that a number of attackers engaged with the security forces in armed clashes following the car bombing and some flee the site of the attack..
Salam Watandar correspondent Hakeem Hasas said many dead and wounded were brought to the public hospital, but the security forces were not letting anyone enter and speak to the victims.
The Taliban are yet to comment on this.
