7 civilians, 2 security forces killed in Helmand, Paktia

LASHKARGAH/ GARDEZ (SW) – A landmine blast claimed the lives of 7 civilians in Helmand while 2 security forces got killed in Paktia province in a car bombing, officials confirmed on Monday.

A landmine blast claimed the lives of at least seven civilians in Helmand province, an official confirmed.

Umer Zwak, spokesman for the provincial governor, said the incident took place in the Bolan area of provincial capital Lashkargah. He added women and children are among the victims.

He blamed the Taliban for planting the landmine. There has been no claim of responsibility from the Taliban for this incident.

Separately, a car bombing in Paktia province killed at least two members of the local uprising force. Provincial police chief, Lutfullah Kamran told Salam Watandar that the incident took place in the Rouhani Baba area of the province.

He said the car bombing followed gunfight between the Taliban and the security forces.

The Taliban are yet to comment on it.
