IED Blast claims the life of a journalist in Helmand

LASHKARGAH (SW) – A deadly landmine blast in Helmand province killed a journalist associated with the Azad Radio on Thursday.

According to the provincial administration, the incident took place in the district 1 of provincial capital Lashkargah in the morning. It confirmed the attack killed Mohammad Elyas Dayee and injured his brother. A statement issued by the governor’s office said improvised explosive device was placed under the car of Dayee.

The attack has been widely condemned by the Afghan government, journalists and the international community representatives in Kabul.

There has been no claim of responsibility for these attacks.
