Biden to press ahead with talks on releasing Afghanistan’s foreign-held assets

MONITORING (SW) – U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration will press ahead with talks on releasing billions of dollars in Afghanistan’s foreign-held assets despite late al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri’s presence in Kabul and foot-dragging by the Taliban and Afghan central bank, according to three sources with knowledge of the situation.

Pakistani delegation visits Kabul

MONITORING (SW) – A Pakistani delegation is paying a 3-day (July 18-20) visit to Kabul for negotiations with the interim Afghan government for resolution of trade, transit and transportation issues facing the two sides, including night-time operations of border facilities for coal imports.

$ 32 million in cash reaches Kabul

KABUL (SW) – The central bank, Da Afghanistan Bank announced on Monday that $ 32 million in cash has reached Kabul in a series of humanitarian aid.

Turkey provides assistance for orphanages

KABUL (SW) – As part of its humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, Turkey today handed over 1,500 food packages and 750 carpets to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs for donation to the country’s orphanages.
