The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Afghanistan has warned that a widening funding gap threatens the continuation of life-saving humanitarian assistance across the country.
In a post on X on Tuesday (June 2), OCHA said that only 16% ($269 million) of the $1.71 billion requested to address humanitarian needs in Afghanistan this year has been received.
OCHA warned that without immediate support, millions of people risk being left without assistance.
The agency had previously reported that 21.9 million people in Afghanistan would require humanitarian assistance this year.
