OCHA emphasizes funding to sustain life-saving aid

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Afghanistan has announced that $73.4 million has been allocated to 119 projects across the country to support Afghanistan’s most vulnerable populations.

In a post on X on Sunday (April 19), the agency said the funds were spent over the past year to address both sudden-onset shocks and protracted humanitarian needs.

According to OCHA, humanitarian needs in Afghanistan are expected to remain high this year, and it emphasizes that timely, flexible funding is critical to sustaining life-saving aid.

The UN agency had previously stated that in 2026, at least 21.9 million people in Afghanistan will require humanitarian assistance.
