The Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) covering Afghanistan says children in the country are still paying a high price for unexploded ordnance.
The organization said this in a post on X on Sunday (April 19).
Earlier, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) warned that Afghanistan ranks as the third country in the world in terms of explosive ordnance casualties, adding that around 50 people are killed each month in the country due to such explosions, with nearly 80% of the victims being children.
The Islamic Emirate said last month that 193 incidents involving unexploded ordnance from past conflicts occurred in Afghanistan over the past year, resulting in 87 deaths and 333 injuries. It added that 67.5% of them were children.
