UNICEF’s Afghanistan office has rebuilt water supply systems in four provinces to provide children and their families with reliable access to clean water.
The organization stated on their X yesterday (Tuesday, 20 January) that over 26,000 residents of Kabul, Nangarhar, Jawzjan, and Badghis provinces have benefited from the rebuilt water supply systems.
UNICEF added that the water supply systems were rebuilt with the support of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
UNICEF emphasized that every child and family has the right to safe and clean water, and none should be deprived of it.
In recent years, climate change in Afghanistan has not only affected the agriculture and livestock sectors but has also restricted access to water for many citizens.
Earlier, the European Union reported that access to safe drinking water is limited for over 21 million Afghan citizens.
