MONITORING (SW) – The World Health Organization (WHO) branch in Afghanistan announced that in January 2025, it supported 131 healthcare centers across 20 provinces in the country.
In a report published on Wednesday on its website, the organization highlighted that it also expanded nine hospitals in seven provinces during January.
Additionally, the WHO stated that in the first month of the year, it supported 12 specialized addiction treatment centers across 12 provinces and collaborated with six non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to provide healthcare services to Afghan citizens.
The healthcare sector in Afghanistan remains heavily reliant on international assistance.
Over the past three years, officials from the Islamic Emirate have repeatedly called on countries and international organizations to cooperate with Afghanistan’s health sector.
