Officials from the Chamber of Commerce and Investment in Herat have announced a 20% increase in pistachio exports from the province.
Mohammad Yosuf Amin, Executive Director of the Chamber, told Salam Watandar that in the past nine months, pistachios worth $24.676 million were exported from Herat, marking an over 20% increase compared to last year.
According to Mr. Amin, pistachio exports from Herat last year amounted to $20.382 million.
He added that the total value of exports from Herat in the past nine months has reached $119.032 million, including agricultural products, dried fruits, minerals, and precious stones.
The mountainous districts of Herat, including Kushk-e-Robot Sangi, Kushk-e-Kohna, Khohsan, Adraskan, and Shindand, are home to vast forests of pistachio trees.
