Some residents of Kabul, expressing their happiness over the first snowfall of the year, say the precipitation will help reduce drought and air pollution.
Farid, a Kabul resident, mentions he came to the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan hill to welcome the snow. “When it snows, it creates a nice atmosphere, and the nature turns white. This space is very pleasant, and the snowfall also helps reduce air pollution,” he adds.
Atiq, another Kabul resident, says he went outside to enjoy the snowy atmosphere. “With the snowfall, pollution decreases, and the air becomes cleaner. I went out to have fun and take photos,” he explains.
Other Kabul residents, happy with the snow, have also visited the city’s recreational areas and taken photos to capture the joyful moments of the day.
Meanwhile, some farmers in different provinces are hopeful that the snowfall will help alleviate the drought.
Sayed Saifullah Yousufi, a farmer in Kapisa, expresses hope that the snowfall will increase groundwater levels. “Snowfall is beneficial for autumn planting and all seasons. Whenever it snows, especially in terms of groundwater storage, it’s very helpful,” he says.
Parwiz, a farmer in Ghazni, shares his joy, saying, “We are very happy to experience the first snow of the year. This snow will bring greenery to the provinces and promote agricultural growth. Snowfall is very beneficial for nature and crops.”
