At least 350 young people in Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital, have graduated from six-month and nine-month vocational training courses at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Male Vocational Training Center.
The graduates completed programs in seven fields such as tailoring, plumbing, electrical appliance repair, maintenance wiring, building engineering, metalworking, and computer skills.
Mohammad Zahed Ahmadzai, Deputy Minister for Labor Affairs, said that the ministry has launched vocational training programs to promote employment opportunities for young individuals in the country.
“The focus of the ministry is to provide employment opportunities for unemployed individuals. Just as you have received your certificates today, you will be able to find work across Afghanistan, and this certification will make it easier for you to find work abroad,” he stated in a program held on Tuesday, in Kabul.
Some graduates of the training programs have called on the Islamic Emirate de-facto government to create job opportunities in technical fields.
Abdul Razeq, one of the graduates trained in computer skills, said, “Our request to the government is to provide job opportunities, especially for the youths, who urgently need work in these difficult times.”
Jamshid, another graduate trained in this program, also expressed, “After completing this course, where I learned seven areas of computer skills, including Office Package and Graphic Designing, we can work in offices, hospitals, or any relevant sector. Our request is for the government to provide us with job opportunities so that we can support our families.”
According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, 34,000 individuals have graduated from the ministry’s Male Vocational Training Center across Afghanistan in the past nine months.
