MONITORING (SW) – The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in Afghanistan has announced that 6.1 million citizens now have access to essential healthcare services.
In a statement released on Sunday, November 3, on X platform, UNICEF reported that it supported 2,400 medical facilities across various provinces in Afghanistan in September of 2024.
The statement noted, “At UNICEF-supported clinics, families can find necessary medications and have access to trained healthcare personnel.”
Afghanistan’s healthcare system is heavily reliant on international aid.
Officials from the Islamic Emirate, particularly the de-facto government’s Ministry of Public Health, have repeatedly called for cooperation from countries and global organizations to support the healthcare sector in Afghanistan over the past three years.
