Victims’ families urge increased security following deadly suicide attack at DarulAman Rd

KABUL (SW) – Families of the victims of the Monday’s suicide attack near DarulAman Palace, located southwest of Kabul, are calling on the de-facto government of the Islamic Emirate to enhance security measures.

The incident, which occurred in the evening in the Qala-e-Bakhtiar area on DarulAman Road, resulted in the deaths of six people, including one woman. All but one of the victims -woman- were from Badakhshan.

At least 13 others were injured as a result of the suicide attack.

Khairullah, a resident of Yaftal Payin in Badakhshan, lost his friend Khairuddin Mazhari—an employee of the Department of Monitoring and Enforcement of Orders at the de-facto Attorney General’s Office—in the suicide attack. Khairullah reports that his friend’s mother has been unable to speak upon seeing her son’s lifeless body at home.

“After seeing their son—who had devoted his life to completing his academic education and was an active young person contributing to social, scientific, and managerial fields—falling victim to such a tragedy has had a devastating impact on his family,” Khairullah said.

Jawid Yamin a resident Baharak, Badakhshan, reports that his cousin, Elhamuddin Yamin, a law graduate and former prosecutor who also worked at the department, was killed in the suicide attack. He adds that his cousin had recently gotten married and was planning to enroll in a doctoral program.

“Unfortunately, he became a martyr due to the suicide attack yesterday afternoon. We urge the government to take measures to prevent the loss of such important individuals,” Jawid said.

Asadullah, a Kabul resident, reports that his son, a master’s student at Kabul University and an employee at the Department of Monitoring and Enforcement of Orders, was severely injured in Monday’s suicide attack and is currently hospitalized at Emergency Hospital.

“We urge the caretaker government to pay more attention to security, as the situation has become unbearable,” he added.

Mohammad Omar, another Kabul resident, says that his brother was injured in the suicide attack and is now hospitalized in the emergency hospital. He demands that the perpetrators be “apprehended and punished.”

“Our request is for the security forces to prevent such incidents and address the ongoing situation. How long will the people have to endure this and spend every day waiting in hospitals?”

Khalid Zadran, a spokesperson for the Kabul Security Command, says that the security forces are working to identify those responsible for the suicide attack. He assures the victims’ families that the perpetrators will be apprehended and brought to justice soon.

“We assure the families of the victims of this incident that we will soon apprehend and punish those who have committed such acts of terror. We are identifying the perpetrators of this event and will bring them to justice,” Zadran said.
