KABUL (SW) – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that by providing a 6.9 million dollars donation, Japan will support vaccination services and campaigns in Afghanistan.
UNICEF reported the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
In a statement released on Tuesday, UNICEF indicated that these funds, provided in collaboration with JICA, will address the urgent needs and rights of children and women in Afghanistan.
According to UNICEF, this agreement will enable 4.1 million women and children to receive vaccinations and will launch a polio vaccination campaign for 4.7 million children.
The statement highlighted that the Japanese government has recently allocated nearly $7 million to support UNICEF’s efforts, in collaboration with JICA, to address the immediate needs and rights of children and women in the country.
