World TB Day: UN warns nearly 4,400 lives lost daily

MONITORING (SW) – The United Nations, on occasion of World Tuberculosis (TB) Day has announced that Nearly 4,400 people die from this disease daily.

According to the UN’s statement, this death toll among TB patients making it one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases.

“The good news is that TB is preventable & treatable,” the United Nations wrote in X.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) report, in 2022, 1.3 million people worldwide died due to TB, making it the second leading cause of death after the COVID-19.

March. 24. was named as World Tuberculosis Day.

Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacteria usually attack the lungs, but TB bacteria can attack any part of the body such as the kidney, spine, and brain.
