Afghanistan: UNICEF treated 715,000 malnourished children in 2023

KABYUL (SW) – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Afghanistan announced that in 2023, it treated 715,000 malnourished children in the country. 

UNICEF has issued a statement on Wednesday, added that it distributed more than 90 million food packages to the needy people in Afghanistan.

Earlier, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) stated that 2.3 million pregnant women in Afghanistan are suffering from malnutrition.

On Sunday, the WFP also said that four million mothers and children in Afghanistan are suffering from malnutrition, and according to this agency, the global assistance cuts, “the situation is only getting worse.”

Previously, WFP announced that this agency needs 760 million dollars to continue its cooperation in Afghanistan in the next six months.
