KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) has finalized significant agreements with the private sector in Kabul, marking a total investment exceeding 2 billion Afghanis.
These contracts encompass the reconstruction of the passenger terminal in the Guzari district of Herat province, with a substantial investment of nearly 2 billion Afghanis.
Additionally, the construction of the Aqueena port project in Faryab, backed by an investment of 90 million Afghanis, is part of these pivotal agreements.
Furthermore, a contract for a 350-million-Afghani investment has been secured for the construction of the waiting room and parking lot at Kabul Airport.
Hamidullah Akhundzada, Acting Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, says, “Gazari Terminal is being reconstructed in Herat province. The construction of Ghaziri Terminal takes three years. The construction of Aqueena port in Faryab province costs 1.5 million Afghanis. The third project is the new waiting room for the Kabul Airport, which will be built in a year.”
Akhundzada added that With the implementation of these projects, job opportunities will be provided for more than 2 thousand people in Afghanistan.
However, the exact commencement date for these projects remains unclear.
According to Akhundzada, in the last two years, the private sector has been involved in 23 small and large projects.
Additionally, officials report the completion of 46 air and ground construction projects in the current solar year, with 50% of the construction work already finished.
