Jowzjan authorities execute one convicted murderer

JOWZJAN (SW) – The Islamic Emirate authorities have publicly executed an individual in Jowzjan province in northern Afghanistan.

The individual, identified as Nazar Mohammad from the Pulcharagh district of Faryab province, was accused of murder, The de-facto government’s Supreme Court stated on Monday.

The statement adds that Mohammad was accused of killing a person in Faryab province two years ago.

The decision, made by the Islamic Emirate courts, was approved by its leader, Hebatullah Akhundzada.

Human rights groups, including Amnesty International, have strongly criticized the recent public executions, particularly the two in Ghazni last week, according to reports.

Amnesty International expressed grave concerns about the “lack of fair trial rights” under the current regime in Afghanistan.

On last Thursday, the Islamic Emirate authorities publicly executed two men convicted of murder in a football stadium in Ghazni, the eastern Afghanistan.
