KABUL (SW) – The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has announced that Japan will donate 13.5 million dollars to support those in need in Afghanistan.
According to the program’s statement on social media platform X, the funds will be allocated to provide food assistance and emergency nutrition to individuals facing food insecurity.
“Japan contributes US$13.5 million for WFP in Afghanistan for emergency assistance for 630’000 people, school feeding for 36’000 children & to keep WFP_UNHAS operational.”
Additionally, the donation will play a crucial role in sustaining the humanitarian services provided by the United Nations. according to WFP.
Earlier, WFP stated that “in Afghanistan, many children go to school hungry.”
WFP added that it distributes nutritious biscuits to 700,000 male and female students every morning.
