Political leaders of Afghanistan and Pakistan convened for bilateral talks

KABUL (SW) – Sardar Ahmad Shakib, the head of the Afghan embassy in Islamabad, recently held a meeting with Fazal-ur-Rehman, the president of the political party Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam in Pakistan.

According to a statement released by the party, the meeting took place on Saturday, December 16, at the residence of Fazal-ur-Rehman.

During the discussion, the two sides delved into the current state of relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The statement further noted that the head of the Afghan embassy in Islamabad conveyed Kabul’s message to Fazl-ur-Rehman and extended an invitation for him to visit Afghanistan.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam holds significant influence in shaping the political landscape of Islamabad, being a major political-religious party in Pakistan.

Remarkably, this marks the inaugural instance where the de-facto government has extended an invitation to the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam to visit Afghanistan.
