Afghan delegation leaves for Turkmenistan

KABUL (SW) – Bakht al-Rahman Sharafat, the general director of the Afghanistan Railway Autority, has left for Ashgabat at the official invitation of Turkmenistan.

A statement issued on Wednesday, 29 November that the railway delegation will talk and discuss issues related to the railway with officials of Turkmenistan.

According to the statement, in addition of increasing transfers, the delegation will also discuss on cooperation and issues related to railways.

The statement adds: “A delegation headed by Mullah Bakht al-Rahman Sharafat, the general director & CEO of Afghanistan Railway authority departed to Ashgabat on an official invitation from Turkmenistan. During this trip, the Afghan side will discuss bilateral railway cooperation, enhancement of goods.”

The railway delegation visits Turkmenistan while agreements have been reached on some railway projects between the two countries

Afghanistan is linked to Turkmenistan’s railway network via Aqeena that facilitates export of commercial goods to central Asia and surrounding nations, and importing from these countries into the Afghanistan.
