HERAT CITY (SW) – Officials in the Ministry of Economy say that 44 domestic and foreign institutions have helped the victims of the earthquake in Herat with the total amount of 3.4 million dollars, 34 million afghanis and 100 thousand euros.
Abdur Rahman Habib, the spokesman of the Ministry of Economy, told Salaam Vatandar on Saturday that 22 other institutions are still operating in the area and their plans are being implemented.
He adds: “44 domestic and foreign institutions have contributed and the amount is different. A total of 3.4 million dollars, about 34 million afghanis and 100 thousand euros, have been helped, and 22 other institutions are operating in the area and their projects are being implemented.”
These number of domestic and foreign institutions are helping the victims of the earthquake in Herat, while last Thursday, a number of residents of this province complained to Salam Watandar about the lack of access to these aids.
It should be mentioned that about two weeks ago, powerful earthquakes shook parts of Herat province, as a result of which thousands of people were killed and injured, and tens of thousands of others became homeless.
The representatives of people’s aid collection committee for the affected people of Herat Earthquake in Faryab, say that in the one-week campaign, they collected about nine million afghanis.
According to them, this aid was handed over to this committee on Friday, 20 October by a number of journalists and civil activists in Faryab.
