Seasonal disease claim over 100 lives

KABUL (SW) – Officials in the Ministry of Public Health say that as a result of the increase in heat, seasonal diseases such as fever, diarrhea and several other types of diseases have spread in different parts of the country, as a result of which 100 people have died.

Sharaft Zaman Amarkhel, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Health, told Salam Watandar that 100,000 people have contracted diarrhea as a result of the increase in heat in the last two months. He added: “In the past two months, 100,000 people have visited the hospital, and apart from malaria, other diseases have spread due to the heat, and 100 citizens have died across the country.”

Officials in the Ministry of Public Health added that they are trying to increase the supply of health services to patients.

Meanwhile, officials at the Indira Gandhi Children’s Health Hospital in Kabul also say that the spread of seasonal diseases has increased in the past month.

Habib al-Rahman, one of the officials of this hospital, told Salam Watandar: “In last month, 578 people were infected with diarrhea, and four of them died. Also, 106 people have been infected with malaria and 94 people have been infected with anthrax, and these two diseases have not resulted in deaths.”

On the other hand, Arif Hasanzai, a doctor at the Indira Gandhi Children’s Health Hospital, asked families to vaccinate their children and feed them with breast milk.
