New power substation installed in Balkh

MAZAR-E-SHARIF (SW) – The local officials of Balkh say that an electricity power substation at the cost of 800,000 US dollars has been put into operation in Chamtal district of this province.

This electricity substation, which has the capacity to provide 24-hour electricity for 1,200 families, was launched on Wednesday in the presence of the local officials of Balkh.

Sardar Mohammad Saqib, head of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat in Balkh, said on the occasion that this substation was built in five months and the cost of its construction was provided by the power utility. Saqib added that about 600,000 dollars have been paid for the equipment and 200,000 dollars for the building of this electricity substation.

Officials said that they are trying to provide access to regular electricity for about five thousand families in Chamtal district.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Youssef Wafa, the governor of Balkh, during the opening of this substation, assured the expansion of the activities of the Islamic Emirate to provide better services to the residents of this province and the development of the country. The governor of Balkh has also asked the residents of this province to cooperate and work hard with the ruling system for the survival and consolidation of the foundations of the Islamic Emirate’s government.

A number of residents of Chamtal district expressed their satisfaction with the opening of this substation and access to 24/7 electricity.

It should be mentioned that before, the residents of Chamtal district complained about the lack of regular electricity in this district.
