Ambulance service launched in Balkh

KABUL (SW) – Officials at the Balkh public health department say that an ambulance services has been activated with the financial support of the World Health Organization in order to provide better services.

Najibullah Tawana, head of public health in Balkh, has said that this service was activated on Monday at a cost of 130,000 US dollars.

Mr. Tawana added that 14 ambulances with equipment are supposed to serve the citizens in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif and on the highways of Balkh province.

According to the director of public health of Balkh, with the activation of this department, nearly 50 people have been provided with a job and thousands of Balkh residents are expected to benefit from its services

Meanwhile, the local authorities of Balkh say that after this, citizens can request help by calling the number “102”.

Noorulhadi Abu Idris, the deputy governor of Balkh, has said that with the activation of this department, the level of mortality due to events and diseases will decrease significantly.

Balkh ambulance has been welcomed by the residents of Balkh. They say that in emergency situations, the activity of health ambulances can provide appropriate health services.

Health officials in Balkh say that Balkh ambulance has been activated 24/7 to provide health services.
