KABUL (SW) – Shahabuddin Delawar, Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum of the Islamic Emirate, has said that this ministry will soon put a number of oil and gas exploration tenders out.
He said this on Saturday in a meeting with the delegation of a Chinese company.
The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, by publishing a newsletter yesterday, said that during this meeting, the Chinese company showed interest in investing in oil and gas exploration in Afghanistan.
Delawar said: “Afghanistan has rich oil and gas resources. The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum will soon announce for the exploration of a number of oil and gas fields in the country, and those interested can legally participate in the tenders.”
The Ministry of Industry and Trade recently handed over the extraction of oil in the Amu River Basin to a Chinese company. This Chinese company will extract oil on an area of 4,500 square meters of land in Sar-e-Pul, Jawzjan and Faryab provinces.
In these fields, the presence of 87 million oil barrels is estimated.
