US warns of al-Qaeeda staging revenge attack

MONITORING (SW) – The US State Department has warned of al-Qaeeda staging revenge attack for the killing of its leader in Kabul, Afghanistan. 

After Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of the al-Qaeda network, was killed in an American drone attack in Kabul, now the State Department has warned of the possibility of retaliation by this group.

The US State Department warned on yesterday that the killing of the leader of al-Qaeeda by the US may force his supporters to target American facilities or citizens.

The department added that current information indicates that terrorist organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks against the US interests in several regions around the world.

According to the US State Department, a wide range of tactics may be used in these attacks, including suicide operations, assassinations, kidnappings, hijackings, and bombings.

The ministry has warned American citizens to be aware of their security measures when traveling abroad.
