Senior Islamic Emirate leader killed in Kabul

KABUL (SW) – A senior Islamic Emirate leader has been killed in a blast in Kabul, sources told Salam Watandar.

Sources in Kabul have reported an explosion inside a religious school in this city.

According to the sources, this explosion took place after breakfast today at Rahimullah Haqqani School in “Shash Darak” area of ​​Kabul city.

The sources added that Rahimullah Haqqani, a religious scholar anx a senior member of the Islamic Emirate and the head of this school, was killed in this explosion.

A number of members of the Islamic Emirate have confirmed the death of Rahimullah Haqqani by posting photos and videos from the scene of the incident on Twitter. Bilal Karimi, one of the deputy spokespersons of the Islamic Emirate, has also confirmed the killing of this religious scholar.

There is no accurate information about the exact number of casualties in this explosion. Sources said that this incident was a suicide attack.

Kabul security officials have not yet said anything about the nature of this explosion and the resulting casualties.

Immediately, no person or group claimed responsibility for this explosion.

Hours later, the so-called Islamic State group took responsibility for the deadly suicide attack. Amaq propaganda site of the group said the suicide attacker made his way through all security checks to target Haqqani.

According to reports, Rahimullah Haqqani ran a religious school in the city of Peshawar, Pakistan, until the caretaker government of the Islamic Emirate came to power. After the collapse of the republic, he moved his school (Rahimullah Haqqani School) to Kabul.
