Economy minister calls for lifting literacy level

KABUL (SW) – The officials of the Ministry of Economy say that they are working on a joint plan with the relevant ministries in order to lift the level of literacy in the country.

Deputy Minister of Economy, Latif Nazari, while presenting the annual report of his ministry in Kabul today, said that he is working with the relevant ministries to increase the level of literacy in the country and soon practical and useful steps will be taken in this regard.

According to reports, with the rule of the Islamic Emirate, the education system in the country has been affected and many professional teachers have gone to foreign countries.

It has been almost a year since girls’ schools above the sixth grade have been closed in the country, and the caretaker government of the Islamic Emirate has not yet decided to reopen them.

On the other hand, Latif Nazari said in the meeting that the ministry is working on ways to reduce the poverty level in the country and provide employment to the people.

He added that in the near future, the practical work of the Tapi project will be started and people will be provided with jobs.

The Deputy Minister of Economy also said that efforts have been started to attract domestic and foreign investors and they are looking to reduce the level of poverty and hunger in the country.

According to him, although international humanitarian aid has solved a number of problems of the people at home, he called on the international community to provide more aid to Afghanistan.
