Floods in Maidan Wardak claim one life, causes damages

MAIDAN WARDAK (SW) – Flash floods in Maidan Wardak province killed one woman and injured five people, confirmed officials. 

Officials of the Natural Disaster Management Department say that the recent rains in Maidan Shahr, the center of this province, and Syed Abad, Qir, Jalriz, and Behsud districts have caused casualties and huge financial losses to the people.

Faizullah Jalali, the head of fighting against natural disasters in Wardak Square, told Salaam Watandar that for the fourth time, floods have occurred in Sayed Abad district due to heavy rains and caused huge financial losses and casualties to the people.

He added that as a result of the floods, one woman died and five others were injured.

Meanwhile, a number of residents of Syed Abad district told Salam Watandar that in addition to the casualties caused by the floods, a number of residential houses, agricultural lands and gardens were destroyed.

They ask the caretaker government of the Islamic Emirate and aid organizations to provide immediate aid to the flood victims.
