Schools in Helmand to get internet

LASHKARGAH (SW) – Officials at the Afghan telecom company in the southern part of the country say they have plans to provide fiber-optic internet services to six schools in Lashkargah and some other schools in the districts of Helmand.

Atiqullah Rahimi, head of the Afghan Telecommunication Company’s project and plan in the southern part of the country, said the aim was to connect students at the school in Helmand with other provinces and the world.

Hezbollah, the deputy governor of Helmand, said at the inaugural meeting of the program in Lashkargah that internet services in schools are one of the needs of day. He urged teachers to use the new opportunities to improve the educational process for students as much as possible.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Bashir, director of Beitun Ali High School in Lashkargah, expressed satisfaction with the move and called it valuable. He emphasizes that from now on students can connect with other provinces and the world and thus make positive changes in their current abilities.

Although fiber-optic internet services are being provided to Helmand schools for the first time, residents say their complaints about internet services and network calls have not been heeded for years.
