Turkey provides assistance for orphanages

KABUL (SW) – As part of its humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, Turkey today handed over 1,500 food packages and 750 carpets to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs for donation to the country’s orphanages.

Turkish Ambassador to Afghanistan Cihad Erginay, said at the meeting in this connection that his country is cooperating with Afghan citizens in various fields and that this cooperation will continue in the future.

Meanwhile, Faizan Ahmad Kakar, director general of Afghanistan Orphanages, said on his term there are currently 68 public and private orphanages across Afghanistan, housing 7,500 orphans and homeless children.

Abdul Wali Sarnawal, Acting Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, called for continued humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan and described this assistance as necessity in the current situation.

Recent developments in the country have raised concerns about the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, especially the situation of children, and international organizations have repeatedly expressed concerns about children being deprived of education due to poverty and the economic crisis.
