Kabul Municipality fines a hotel for cutting trees

KABUL (SW) – The Kabul Municipality has slapped a hotel with a fine worth over a million afghanis for cutting down 26 trees.

The Kabul Municipality said in a press release today that it had fined the Ariana Kabul Hotel 1.3 million afghanis for cutting down 26 trees. The statement added that the hotel had committed urban crime in the fifth district of Kabul and damaged the green area.

According to the newsletter, the Ariana Kabul Hotel has paid the compensation amount of 1.3 million afghanis and this amount has been transferred to the government account. Kabul Municipality has said it intends to enforce the law uniformly to prevent such urban violations.

About 20 days ago, the Kabul Municipality announced that many trees and seedlings of Kabul had been destroyed, stolen and looted by opportunists for a long time. The KM said that from now on, thieves and destroyers of trees and seedlings will be fined.

Kabul Municipality had emphasized that cutting down or damaging trees and saplings was considered an “urban crime” and that it was seriously considering measures to curb it.
