KM forms commission to prevent hoarding, control the prices.

MONITORING (SW) – In the wake of the floating USD value and the subsequent change in the prices of food items and fuel, the Kabul Municipality has announced the establishment of a commission to prevent hoarding and control the prices.

Nematullah Barakzai, a spokesman for the Kabul Municipality, said on Wednesday when presenting a report on activities and achievements over the past five months that the commission would set a specific tariff for shopkeepers and fuel suppliers.

The spokesman of Kabul Municipality added that after the start of the commission’s activity and the finalization of the price list, the institutions responsible for the food and fuel market will control and deal with the violators legally.

“According to the decree by the Prime Minister, the Commission for the Prevention of Hoarding and Control of Items has been established under the Kabul Municipality, which includes representatives from the Ministry of Interior, Intelligence, Attorney General, chambers of commerce and craftsmen, herdsmen, butchers and the representatives of fuel suppliers are also included.”

According to him, after the Islamic Emirate came to power, there have been positive changes in market regulations, cleaning and law enforcement. He stressed the Kabul Municipality has been able to stop the activities of 591 illegal high-rises and take back hundreds of acres of government land from its illegal occupants.

On the other hand, Abdul Rashid Baluch, the Mayor of Kabul, said at the meeting that efforts are being made to improve the environmental situation in Kabul as in the past five months. “We have provided many services to the citizens of the country over the past five months and we promise to provide more facilities to the capital,” he added.
