Mullah Baradar rules out inclusion of former officials

KABUL (SW) – Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the first deputy prime minister, has said no official from the previous administration would be taken onboard the Islamic Emirate.

He said this in an exclusive interview with the state-run Ratio Television Afghanistan. Mullah Baradar said that the Islamic Emirate has made no decision to include figures from the previous government in its system and that these people will discredit the new system.

Acknowledging that the United States had submitted a list of former government officials to the Islamic Emirate in peace talks for inclusion in the new system, he stressed that the current government of the Islamic Emirate includes all ethnic groups and minorities.

However, political experts consider this decision of the Islamic Emirate as against political rationality and say that no system can be absolutely good or bad, and that there were worthy people in the previous regime.

Wais Naseri, a political analyst, believes that the monopoly of power by one political current and the abandonment of other currents is not in the interest of either side, and it does not seem reasonable or practical to take this approach.

“Leaving aside individuals, persons and in the case of all those who are not with the Islamic Emirate, removing them from the political arena and limiting all political power to one people, one group, one thought and one political ideology or Imposing a religious thought is neither reasonable, nor possible, nor in the interest of the Afghan people, nor practical.”

Akram Arefi, another political scientist, says that the desire of all citizens and one of the basic conditions of the international community is the establishment of a comprehensive government by the Islamic Emirate, which if not achieved, will delay the recognition of the Islamic Emirate government and continue challenges in society.

The remarks come as more than four months have passed since the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan took power, and no country has yet recognized its rule. The establishment of an inclusive government, the provision of human rights and the consideration of women’s rights are among the preconditions set by the international community for the recognition of the Islamic Emirate.
