Stanekzai says Afghanistan has failed on political, economic fronts

KABUL (SW) – Shir Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, deputy minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, has said Afghanistan has always defeated the world’s great powers militarily, but it has failed politically and economically.

He said this said today at a meeting in Logar on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of the former Soviet Army invasion of Afghanistan.

Stanekzai added that any major world military power that has invaded Afghanistan has failed, however, due to the incompetence of the country’s leaders, constructive opportunities have been missed and the ground for foreign intervention has been provided.

Referring to the jihad of the Afghan people against the former Soviet Union, the Deputy Foreign Minister said that the Afghan people brought to their knees the greatest military power of the time, but the jihadi leaders did not respect the blood of the martyrs and sought perks.

According to the Deputy Foreign Minister, the citizens of Afghanistan are now awake and can solve their internal problems without engaging in a war. He called the US defeat in Afghanistan a great victory and said that the establishment of the Islamic Emirate is now the biggest answer for the world.

On the other hand, the media office of Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, issued a statement on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of the former Soviet army invasion of Afghanistan, saying that the Islamic Emirate does not interfere in the internal affairs of any country.

It stated that the Islamic Emirate seeks to interact with the international community. “The people of Afghanistan, as a peace-loving nation, want strong and good relations within the framework of universal Islamic principles with the nations of the world,” the statement said. “Relationships in which, according to the Islamic Emirate, there is no possibility of harm to anyone and the right to freedom of nations is safe”.

Furthermore, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has called on all countries of the world to play a positive role in establishing and maintaining good relations.

Meanwhile, Anas Haqqani, a senior official of the Islamic Emirate, said at a meeting in Logar on the 42nd anniversary of the former Soviet army’s invasion of Afghanistan that Afghan citizens should learn from the past and not allow foreign power to take over again.

He called on the forces of the Islamic Emirate to treat the citizens well and not to allow distance between the nation and the government.

It should be noted that 42 years ago, the Soviet Army invaded Afghanistan and was defeated after nearly 10 years of war. This war left about one million dead and thousands of disabled and wounded.

Even now, despite the fact that the United States has left Afghanistan after 20 years and the Islamic Emirate has taken power, the country is still facing economic and political problems and international organizations have repeatedly warned of a humanitarian catastrophe.
