KABUL (SW) – The Taliban’s Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan today issued a statement saying that countries around the world and international organizations should not use their aid to the people of Afghanistan as a tool of political pressure.
The statement called on the United Nations, the world’s richest nations and the donors to Afghanistan to work together faithfully to overcome the challenges and not to turn their aid into a tool of political pressure.
It also noted that the US withdrawal, based on the Doha Agreement, was an important step. The Taliban acknowledged that this withdrawal must send a clear message to others not to think about invading Afghanistan.
This comes as much of foreign aid to Afghanistan got suspended due to what the donors dubbed as the non-fulfillment of the commitments made by the Islamic Emirate.
